Chapter two

OTHER GODS

This study on other gods and lords IS NOT TO BE MISTAKEN as their being the Supreme Eternal Godhead but pertains to spirits who are evolving UNDER this Divine Intelligence into Godhood.

Words of JS, Page 379 "I say there are Gods many & Lds many but to us only one & we are to be in subject to that one & no man can limit the bounds, or the eternal existence of eternal time - HATH HE BEHELD THE ET(ERN)L WORLD & IS HE AUTH. TO SAY THAT THERE IS ONLY GOD HE MAKES HIMSELF A FOOL - & there is an end of his career in knowledge he cannot obtn. all knowledge for he has sealed up the gate ... .. if the Heb. language compels us to render all words ending in heam in the plural - why not render the first plural ......THE WORD ELOIHEAM OUGHT TO BE IN THE PLURAL ALL THE WAY THRO - G0DS "

Before this world was, that which was ordained took place in the midst of the COUNCIL OF THE ETERNAL GOD OF ALL OTHER GODS. (See D & C 121:32)

And they appointed one God for us and one Savior:

Words of JS, Page 379 "In the begin the heads of the Gods organized the heaven & the
Earth.......... THE HEADS OF THE GODS APPOINTED ONE GOD FOR US"

1 Cor. 8:5 "For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)

6 But to us there is b ut one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST, by whom are all things, and we by him." (1 Peter 1:20)

And the God of this earth progressed to that status:

Words of JS, Page 341 "REFUTE THE IDEA THAT GOD WAS GOD FROM ALL ETERNITY-"

Page 361 "God: a man like one of us, even like Adam. Not God from all Eternity. ONCE ON A PLANET WITH FLESH AND BLOOD , LIKE CHRIST .... ~

And they, as Saviors, had POWER OVER LIFE AND DEATH - no one took their life from them but they, of their own free will and choice, laid down their body and took it up again:

Words of JS, Page 341 "Jesus said AS THE FATHER HAD POWER IN HIMSELF EVEN SO HATH THE SON POWER TO DO WHAT THE FATHER DID. Lay down his body. & take it up again." (John 5:19; 10:17 & 18 and Luke 23:46)

And Jesus is also evolving and working out his Godhood:

D & C 93:12 "And I, John, saw that HE RECEIVED NOT OF THE FULNESS AT FIRST, BUT RECEIVE D GRACE FOR GRACE; "

Note the foregoing highlighted. The dictionary gives th e meaning of grace as: "An excellence or power granted by God." Thus, it appears that the Son, through the God-given right to excel, continued in experience from grace to grace which experience involved learning obedience through suffering. (Heb. 2:18 and 5:8)

And being the first to conquer the SPIRITUAL DEATH or being the "FIRSTBORN from the spiritually dead" gave him all power and fullness. The term "FIRSTBORN" refers to a STATE OF GLORY (being spiritually aware) and since Christ had qualified for this state of glory before this earth had a beginning, we, through faith in His Atonement, are "begotten" or BORN AGAIN spiritually to receive of this same glory:

D & C 93:21 " ..........I was in the beginning with the Father, and am the FIRSTBORN;

22 And all those who are BEGOTTEN THROUGH ME are partakers of THE GLORY OF THE SAME," (D & C 76:94)

And this fullness gave him all power:

Col. 1: 16 "For BY HIM were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones. or dominions, or principalities. or powers: ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM, AND FOR HIM:" (Moses 1:33, D & C 38:1, D & C 93: 10)

Mosiah 3:8 "And he shal l be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, THE FATHER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH, the Creator of all t hings from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary." (Alma 11:38 & 39)

JSBHW, Vol. I, B of M 1830 First Edition, 1 Ne. Page 32, "And the angel spake unto me,saying: These last records which thou hast seen among the Gentiles........ shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb o f God is the ETERNAL FATHER and the Saviour of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved;"

The foregoing has been changed to the following Bolded:

"the Lamb of God is the SON OF THE Eternal Father and the Savior of the world;" (See B of M, l Ne. 13:40 - 1981 Edition).

JSBHW, Vol. I, B of M 1838 First Edition, 1 Ne. Page 25 "And I looked and beheld the virgin again, bearing a child in her arms. And the angel said unto me, behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the ETERNAL FATHER!"

The foregoing has also been changed as Bold:

"And the angel said unto me, behold the L amb of God, yea, even THE SON OF the Eternal Father!" (See B of M, l Ne. 11:20 & 21 - 1981 Ed.)

And in taking upon himself this appointment on earth through an earthly tabernacle he relinquished some of his glory:

John 17:5 "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which l had with thee before the world was."

And in doing the will of the Father he received again that glory HAVING HIS CALLING AND ELECTION MADE SURE or having that glory forever:

D & C 93:15 "And I, John, bear record, and lo, the heavens were opened, and the Holy Ghost descended upon him in the form of a dove, and sat upon him, and there came a voice out of heaven saying: This is my beloved Son.
16 And I, John, bear record that he received a fulness of the glory of the Father;
17 And he received all power, both in heaven and on earth, and the glory of the Father was with him FOR HE DWELT IN HIM." (Matt. 3:16 & 17, Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21 & 22)

Note the bolded "the glory of the Father was with him FOR HE DWELT IN HIM." Jesus, being sub missive to the Father's will had become the image and likeness of the Eternal Godhead which was the Spiritual Endowment or the "GOD WITHIN." Thus, the term "FOR HE (THE FATHER) DWELT IN HIM."

And when the savior saves all that were given him 2 he will take the Father's place and the Father will take a higher exaltation:

2 John 18:9 "That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake,of them which thou gavest me I have lost none..

Words of JS, Page 345 "What did Jesus Christ do, the same thing as I see the Father do, see the father do what, work out a kingdom, WHEN I DO SO TO I WILL GIVE TO THE FATHER WHICH WILL ADD TO HIS GLORY, HE WILL TAKE A H IGHER EXHALTATION & I WILL TAKE HIS PLACE AND AM ALSO EXHALTED. "

And we also are evolving and seeking for the ultimate goal:

Words of JS, Page 341 "you have got to learn how to make yourselves God. Kings. Priests. etc . - BY GOING FROM A SMALL TO GREAT CAPACITY. Till they are able to dwell in everlasting burning & everlasting power. - " (1 Pet. 5:10)

In the next chapter we will study how the Eternal Fatherplanned for this to be accomplished.
