Chapter Eight

HOW THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PLAN OF SALVATION IS HAD AMONG ALL NATIONS

The Father makes the Plan of Salvation available to ALL peoples in ALL nations in ALL dispensations of time through a "REMNANT " of the chosen lineage that would be saved UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD . The first to receive this knowledge was Adam:

RB, Gen. 5:44 "....the gospel began to be preached from the beginnin', being declared by holy angels, sent forth from the presence of God; and by his own voice, and by the gift of the Holy Ghost.

45 And thus ALL THINGS WERE CONFIRMED UNTO ADAM BY AN HOLY ORDINANCE; and the gospel preached; and a decree sent forth that IT SHOULD BE IN THE WORLD UNTIL THE END THEREOF ; and thus it was. Amen."

The gospel is the Plan of Salvation:

D & C 39:6 "And this is my gospel - repentance and baptism by water, and then cometh the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost, even the Comforter, which showeth all things, and teacheth the peaceable things of the kingdom." (D & C 133:57)

This remnant was the literal descendants of the chosen seed who held the right of PRESIDENCY through the EVANGELICAL OR PATRIARCHAL ORDER UNDER THE MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD :

D & C 107:40 "The order of this priesthood was confirmed to be handed down from father to son, and rightly belongs to the literal descendants of the chosen seed, to whom the PROMISES were made .
41 This order was instituted in the days of Adam, and came down by lineage in the following
manner:
42 From Adam to Seth.39 who was ordained by Adam .........and received the promise cf God by his father that his posterity should be the chosen of the Lord and that THEY SHOULD BE PRESERVED UNTO THE END OF THE EARTH ;"

Note the foregoing, that they were to be preserved unto THE END OF THE EARTH which was the same with Enoch:

39 This promise was to the SPIRITUALLY REBORN:

Moses 6:2 "And Adam knew his wife again, and she bare a son, and he called his name Seth. And Adam glorified the name of God; for he said: God hath appointed me another seed, instead of Abel, whom Cain slew...................
10 And Adam ............begat a son IN HIS OWN LIKENESS. AFTER HIS OWN IMAGE, and called his name Seth. "
The term "in his own likeness. after his own image" means again the SPIRITUAL likeness and image for certainly Adam who had many sons did not finally have one who was bom with the male physical earthly form.

Moses 7:51 "And the Lord ........covenanted with Enoch ........
52 And he sent forth an unalterable decree. that a remnant of his seed should always be found among all nations. WHILE THE EARTH SHOULD STAND ;"

Since the promise was to continue WHILE THE EARTH SHOULD STAND , a son of Enoch's was left on earth when Zion was taken into heaven. (See Moses 8:2)

THE REASON this priesthood PRESIDENCY went from the spiritual to the spiritual or from the father to the son who had qualified, WAS TO INSURE THAT CORRECT KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING THE PLAN OF SALVATION WOULD CONTINUE .

Abraham was next:

Abraham l:l9 "As it was with Noah so shall it be with thee;"

Also: D & C 132:30 "Abraham received promises concerning his seed, and of the fruit of his loins .........WHICH WERE TO CONTINUE SO LONG A S THEY WERE IN THE WORLD 40 and as touching Abraham and his seed. out of the world they should continue ; both in the world and out of the world should they continue as innumerable as the stars;"

40 Gen. 26:4 "And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the NATIONS OF THE EARTH be blessed;~

These promises all pertain to this earth life - not to the eternities. (Also Gen. 12:3; Abr. 2:9)

The foregoing is consistent with the preceding scriptures to a point and then it reaches the ultimate of contradictions in the statement, "and as touching Abraham and his seed. out of the world they should continue ;" The promises of the Lord pertaining to the continuation of a remanant clearly state that this is to be ONLY UNTIL THE END OF THE EARTH which is the time period that is needed to make known the Plan of Salvation. The 132nd Section of the Doctrine and Covenants was addressed publicly for the first time in 1852, five years after the Saints had arrived in the Salt Lake Valley which was eight years after Joseph Smith's death. It also was not printed in the Doctrine and Covenants until 1876 which was thirty-two years after the martyrdom. William Law, counsellor to Joseph Smith, was shown the original revelation in Nauvoo which, he stated, was on two foolscap sheets of paper; that much had been added to that which he read in the Salt Lake Church's publication of the same.

Isaac, the chosen seed, received the promise:

Gen. 17:20 "And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, ............
21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year."

The promise was restored to Joseph Smith:

D & C 86:8 "........the priesthood hath continued through the lineage of your fathers
9 For ye are lawful heirs, ACCORDING TO THE FLESH , and have been hid from the world with Christ in God-
10 Therefore your life and the priesthood have remained. and must needs remain THROUGH YOU AND YOUR LINEAGE ...."

The summary is that a remnant of the chosen lineage would be found AMONG ALL NATIONS until the end of the earth ; that this chosen lineage having the priesthood birthright would bear the knowledge that this priesthood gives and that is, that God is merciful and loving to all peoples and nations and that salvation is free to all through their exercising faith in the Atonement. This is accomplished through the "LAW OF ADOPTION " for those who are not of the chosen lineage and also through being "GRALTED IN " for those who were of the chosen lineage but lost their birthright through transgression, as they were the natural branches of the true vine.

1. The Adoption

RB, Ro. 9:4 "....OF WHOM ARE THE ADOPTION , and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God,
5 And the promises which are made unto the fathers; and of whom as concerning the flesh, Christ was. who is God over all blessed for ever . Amen.
.....................
24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
25 As he saith also in Hosea! I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
26 AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS, THAT IN THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS SAID UNTO THEM, YE ARE NOT MY PEOPLE; THERE SHALL THEY BE CALLED THE CHILDREN OF THE LIVING GOD . "

Those who are not God's people will become his children through the plan of adoption and thus it will be in all nations:

2 Ne. 26:33 "...and he (the Lord) inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him. black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen: and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile . (Gal. 3:28, Heb. 3:28, Ro. 10:12 & 2:11, Acts 10:28,34-35)

The right to the Priesthood was not had among the seed of Cain:

Abr. 1:27 "Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood , notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, .... "

But through the promise to Abraham this lineage received the Priesthood:

Abraham 2:11 "...........in thy seed (that is to say. THE LITERAL SEED, or THE SEED OF THE BODY) SHALL ALL THE FAMILIES OF THE EARTH BE BLESSED. even with the blessings of the Gospel. which are the blessings of salvation. even of life eternal ."

Note that THROUGH THE LITERAL SEED OF HIS (Abraham's) BODY all of the families of the earth would be blessed which was accomplished through the children of Hagar and Keturah, both from the seed of Cain.
41 Midian, the son of Keturah, a Canaanite, and also the son of Abraham, received the priesthood rights through Abraham through the law of adoption and passed this right on to his progeny who gave the priesthood to Moses:

41 Hagar was an Egyptian: Gen. 16:1 ~ Sarai had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.

Keturah was a Canaanite:

losephus, Chapter XV, Page 43 ~....there were many sons bom to Abraham by Keturah: nay, he names three of them, Apher, and Surim, and Japhran. That from Surim was the land of Assyria denominated; and that from the other two, Apher and
Japhran, the country of AFRICA took its name,....

T & S, Volumes 1 & 2, Page 299 "Moses got his ordination from his father in law Jethro, who was a priest of Midian. The Midianit
es were descendants of Abraham through his son Midian ,42 born of Keturah, and BROUGHT UP UNDER THE COVENANT OF CIRCUMCISION .

42 I Chron. 1:32 "Now the sons of Keturah, Abraham's concubine: she bare Zimran, and lokshan, and Medan, and MIDIAN, and Ishbak, and Shuah.~

Page 489 He (Midian) and his posterity peopled the land, which was called after his name, and JETHRO BEING THE FIFTH IN REGULAR DESCENT FROM MIDIAN, LIVED IN THE DAYS OF MOSES, AND WAS PRIEST OF THE MOST HIGH GOD , when Moses was a young man, forty years before God called him to lead Israel from Egypt."43

43 Could it be that Zipporah, the daughter of Jethro, who became Moses' wife was the Ethiopian woman that Aaron and Miriam, brother and sister of Moses, spoke against and because of this were chastened of God? (Numbers Chapter 12)

Jesus Christ, whose advent on earth was AFTER the law of adoption took place for the seed of Cain through Abraham , honored it by choosing for one of his apostles a Canaanite:

Matt. 10:2 "Now the names of the twelve apostles are these;
...........
4 Simon the CANAANITE ,..." (Also Mark 3:18)

Simon was also referred to as Zelotes (RB, St Luke 6:13-15).

The Urantia Book, 11. Simon the Zealot, Page 1565 "After the dispersion because of the Jerusalem persecutions, Simon went into temporary retirement. He was literally crushed.
........ but in a few years he rallied his hopes and went forth to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom.
He went to Alexandria and! after working up the Nile. penetrated into the heart of AFRICA, everywhere preaching the gospel of Jesus and baptizing believers. Thus he labored until he was an old man and feeble. And he died and was buried in the heart of Africa

After the Savior's ascension, those having priesthood authority FROM ALL NATIONS worked together to further the gospel plan:

The Acts 13:1 "Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called NIGER , ...........
..........................
4 .....they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence
they sailed to Cyprus."

During Book of Mormon times there were no Mcial restrictions. (See 2 Nephi 26:33)

Joseph Smith was also consistent and excluded no race from receiving the Priesthood:

"Vol. 3 Book Gen. LibMry, Salt Lake City, Utah

Utah 9 LDS Biographical Encyclopedia, Page 577
Abel Elijah (COLORED), born July 25, 1810 in Maryland.
Baptized in Sept. 1832 by Egekiel Roberts.
Ordained an Elder March 3, 1836 and a Seventy April 4, 1841.
Performed a mission in Canada and also labored in the United States.
Died December 25, 1884."

In 1978, Pres. Spencer W. Kimball, through inquiring into the matter, received the same information.

2. Grafting In Of The Natural Branches

These are they who were once of the chosen seed but through transgression lost their birthright and are the branches that have to again be grafted into the true vine:

1 Ne. 15: 12 "Behold, I say unto you, that the house of Isme1 was compared unto an olivetree, by the Spint of the Lord which was IN our father; and behold are we not broken off from the house of Israel, and are we not a branch of the house of Israel?

16 Behold, I say unto you, Yea; they shall be remembered again among the house of Israel;
THEY SHALL BE GRAFTED IN being a natural branch of the olive-tree. into the true olive- tree . "
(Also Jacob 5:3-77 & 1 Ne. 10: 14)

How this is to be accomplished is through the restoration of the Dispensation of Abraham.
